Old Tongue

I finally began Kalevala today, and thus far it hasn’t disappointed. The book opens up as a series of mythologies much like Greek mythology or Germanic mythology, or our own present religions of today. There is a creation myth and archaic stories that are both beautiful and interesting to hear.

Kalevala is a story that itself has a story, and I find it very interesting to hear. I’m very glad I picked out such a book, and I’m looking forward to reading the poetic epic even more.
