I met with a young man who has a very similar story to me, who just now began to leave high school after having trouble with video games and a frustrating time in school. It felt like looking into a wormhole, seeing a bit of myself a few years ago. I could hear a sense of defeat in the boys voice, and I wanted to almost reach out to him as though talking to myself, to tell him he didn’t need to stand in his own way.

He had left school after shrugging off his addiction, and now was suddenly dropped in a world where he had to find his own paths. The resemblance seemed uncanny, but it made me proud of the individual. I looked at him and I could see that he had a bit of a way to go, but he already passed the hardest part.

Good luck to him, and everyone else too,
