Sleepwalking is easy, you just have to not try. Set your eyes down on a paper and read, and then wake up to find yourself on a paragraph a dozen pages later. Take a drive for a while, head out on a long trip, and by the time you look back, you’ll be miles away. Sleepwalking is easy.
Start work on something that tears you away from your consciousness, and watches the minutes, hours, days, and months go by. If you feel asleep in Autumn and woke up in June, you know sleepwalking.
You don’t have to pretend to not be there, nor fake your mental effort, just keep fiddling with whatever you’ve done for years. By the time you know it, you’ll be sleepwalking, into every day like the last, waiting on the change again.
Sleepwalking is easy, you just have to not try.
Best to stay awake then.
